Standard Hand Signals
These signals will not cover every communication need, but they     should fill in a lot of gaps. Remember these signals must be seen to   be understood. When the Road Captain displays a signal it is up to   everyone in the group to pass it back to the riders behind them, this  can be relayed by the rider or the passenger.
With your right arm extended , move your index finger in a circular motion.
START ENGINES
Raise your left arm horizontal with your elbow fully extended
LEFT TURN
RIGHT TURN
HAZARD LEFT
HAZARD RIGHT
SPEED UP
SLOW DOWN
STOP
SINGLE FILE
STAGGERED FORMATION
Raise your left arm horizontal with your elbow bent 90 degrees vertically.
Extend your left arm at a 45 degree angle and point towards the hazard.
Extend your left arm upward at a 45 degree angle with your elbow bent to 90 degrees and point towards the hazard over your head.
Raise your left arm up and down with your index finger extended upward. This indicates the leader wants to speed up.
Extend your arm at a 45 degree angle and move your hand up and down.
Extend your left arm at a 45 degree angle with the palm of your hand facing rearward.
Position your left hand over your head with your index finger extended upward.
Extend your left arm upward at a 45 degree angle with your index and pinkie fingers extended.
These are some of the most commonly used signals we use on a group ride. The Road Captain in charge of the ride will brief the group on all the hand signals prior to leaving. Please plan to be at the designated starting location early with a full tank of gas so we can all be briefed together.
Hand and Arm Signals:
*Every biker and/or passenger in the group will relay the signal
*Staggered Formation - arm straight up showing two fingers
*Single File Formation - arm straight up showing index finger
*Road Caution/Heads up - pat top of helmet
*Hazard on the Road - point with left hand or right foot.
*Slow Down---arm down and palm toward the back. Move your arm back and forth at the elbow
*Increase speed – left arm out, palm facing upward, moving up and down.
*Need Gas - point at the gas tank
*Need Food or a Break - point to you mouth
*Use standard left/right and stop signals with your lights
